As December approaches, the race to be named as the latest BBC Sports Personality of the Year is heating up.
The award - which has been running since 1954 - retains a lot of prestige on these shores and the list of winners reads like a who's who of British sporting royalty.
Last year, Welsh cyclist Geraint Thomas claimed victory ahead of Formula One supremo Lewis Hamilton and England football captain Harry Kane after his amazing Tour de France triumph.
In another twist to the traditional format, the BBC will announce the nominees for the 2019 edition Ballon d'Or-style throughout Monday, with the first name dropping at 7.50am GMT.
