The Embassy of Italy presents an atypical duo performance by jazz soloists Gianluca Petrella and Pasquale Mirra at Chulalongkorn University Music Hall on Wednesday at 7pm.
Petrella is among the top radical and visionary trombonists in the orbit of Italian jazz, with numerous music projects such as Indigo 4, Tubolibre, Cosmic Band and SoupStar that made him famous worldwide.
Meanwhile, Mirra, an active vibraphonist, has worked with artists like Hamid Drake, Fred Frith, Nicole Mitchell, Rob Mazurek and Butch Morris, and his reputation has now reached a wide international dimension.
The concert, featuring acoustic instruments and their respective incursions into electroacoustics, promises to be a game of balance between melody, rhythm and electronics.
The concert is a part of the Italian Festival in Thailand, now celebrating its 14th consecutive edition, organised by the Italian Embassy with the aim of spreading the best of Italian culture.
