Spotify owner makes Arsenal takeover move as he offers to buy out Stan Kroenke

Swedish billionaire Daniel Ek has expressed his interest in buying Arsenal as protests mount against Stan Kroenke.

Following the botched European Super League breakaway the already unpopular American owner is facing a fan revolt.

Thousands of Arsenal fans gathered outside the Emirates stadium ahead of their clash with Everton to call on Kroenke to go.

Ek, who founded Spotify and remains CEO of the streaming giant, grew up supporting the Premier League giants.

And he has publicly stated that he would be interested in a takeover if Kroenke decides to sell up.

Ek wrote on Twitter: "As a kid growing up, I’ve cheered for Arsenal as long as I can remember.

"If KSE (Kroenke Sports & Entertainment) would like to sell Arsenal I'd be happy to throw my hat in the ring."

Arsenal were one of 12 clubs who launched a plan to break away from UEFA and form their own Super League.

Along with the rest of the Premier League's 'big six' plus Real Madrid and Barcelona, as well as Juventus Inter and Milan, the idea was for a 20 team league with 15 permanent members.

But a furious reaction saw the plans collapse, with Arsenal apologising to their fans.
