Spotify  crashed this morning for over an hour causing misery for Miley Cyrus fans on the day her new album Plastic Hearts was released.

The ability to browse new music on the streaming service had stopped, after a check by The Standard.

Users were limited to music already downloaded on to their devices but it appeared the service came back online at around 10.20am for UK users.

Spotify confirmed its outage was over.

However, many listeners reported bugs a with the player skipping songs after only one second of playing and pausing mid-track.

According to downdetector, users started reporting problems around 9am with 9,000 reports from users some reporting skipping songs and others unable to login.

Music fans took to Twitter to reveal their outrage at the crash on New Music Friday.

"Something’s not quite right, and we’re looking into it. Thanks for your reports!", Spotify tweeted at 9:53am.

A few minutes later, the company issued another statement: "We’ve made a few tweaks backstage, so everything should be back to normal. Need more help? Let @SpotifyCaresknow!"
