Roy Keane’s brutal and honest assessment of Manchester United has been warmly received by fans online.
United headed into Saturday evening’s game against Tottenham Hotspur winless in four Premier League games.
Last Sunday’s humiliating 5-0 defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford saw manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer facing the sack but the MEN understands that a lack of a replacement partly delayed the United board’s decision.
Solskjaer needed a positive result in north London and prior to kick-off, former United midfielder Keane pulled no punches when it came to what he had been seeing on the pitch recently.
From the lack of character during games from players to the apologies from stars after defeats, Keane made sure to get everything off his chest while speaking on Sky Sports TV coverage of the match.
Fans reacted positively on social to what they heard, with one user saying they wished “more pundits were like Roy Keane” while another said “everything he says is spot on".
Out-of-work managers Antonio Conte and Zinedine Zidane have been linked with the United job should Solskjaer lose his job, as has Brendan Rodgers who was unable to stop his Leicester City side from losing to Arsenal on Saturday.
Solskjaer made two changes from the side that lost to Liverpool, with Raphael Varane and Edinson Cavani starting and Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood missing out.
