Sports schedule for Newcastle's Screen on the Green - football, tennis, netball and Tour de France timings

The return of Screen on the Green is always welcomed by families keen to bag a spot on a deckchair and watch a film in the sun.

While the weather can't be relied upon, those attending the free outdoor screenings in Newcastle 's Old Eldon Square are being guaranteed a wide-ranging film programme, starting on July 22, with something to suit all tastes.

But before that, it is tapping into our wonderful summer of sporting action and showing the big action events and, while hearts sank with England's lionesses losing out to the US in the Fifa Women’s World Cup Quarter Finals, there is more to lift the spirits - including a visit from during the netball world cup.

So, with organisers NE1 Ltd yet to announce the the upcoming schedule of blockbuster movies and family-friendly films, here's what there is to enjoy in the meantime. Be warned, however, that times can be subject to change.
