Sports Illustrated names Titans safety Kevin Byard to All-25-and-Under team

Safety Kevin Byard is undoubtably one of the biggest standouts in this year’s Tennessee Titans defense.

Because of his strong impact within the scheme in Nashville as of late, it’s no surprise that he landed on Sports Illustrated’s All-25-and-Under team this year.

The network’s Andy Benoit included him in the list of 41 total players.

At the position, Byard was mentioned in the company of the New York Jets’ Jamal Adams, the Los Angeles Chargers’ Derwin James and the Washington Redskins’ Landon Collins.

Here’s what he had to say on Byard and the rest of the notable group.

“Our top three safeties can operate anywhere on the field, putting all blitz and coverage disguises in play. All are playmakers, too,” he wrote. “Byard is a ball hawk in deep centerfield. James and Adams are destructive near the line of scrimmage. Collins, along with Baltimore’s Tony Jefferson (who is too old for this team), is football’s most dangerous “unblocked” defender.

Last season, Byard totaled 90 tackles, two sacks, four interceptions and eight passes defensed.

On his career, he has accumulated 235 tackles, three sacks, two fumble recoveries, 12 interceptions and 28 passes defensed.

Expect him to continue delivering for the Tennessee defense as the team prepares for the upcoming 2019 season.
