Sports gyms and karaoke box business associations Monday issued infection prevention guidelines in order to resume operations.
According to the guidelines set by the Fitness Industry Association of Japan, with roughly 190 member organizations nationwide, a limit should be placed on the number of gym users and the distance of two meters should be maintained between them by, for example, leaving a space between training equipment open. The guidelines also prohibit advanced exercises that cause breathing difficulties, shouting and conversations in changing rooms. In pools, where wearing a mask is difficult, the distance between lanes should be as far apart as possible and keep swimmers two meters away from each other.
According to guidelines issued by the Japan Karaoke Box Association, karaoke establishments will be asked to reduce the capacity of each room to less than half and to disinfect items in the room that are frequently in contact with multiple people, such as microphones and remote controls. Seats should be placed as close to two meters apart as possible, and masks should be worn except when either singing or eating.
