Sports Direct and Miss Selfridge have launched closing down sales at their Swansea city centre stores

Two big name brands have launched closing down sales at their stores in prime Swansea city centre locations.

The Sports Direct and Miss Selfridge stores in Oxford Street are both displaying signs offering customers bargains.

Signs in the window of Sports Direct say 'closing down - all stock reduced' and displayed in the windows of Miss Selfridge is 'closing down sale, everything must go - 50% off".

While both companies have yet to confirm that they are closing the Swansea stores, they would become the latest businesses to move out of the normally busy shopping street and the wider Swansea area.

In February, 2020, the Accessorize store in Whitewalls near to the Quadrant Shopping Centre which had been a fixture in the area for years announced it would close.

In August, fashion retailer H&M announced that it would close 170 stores in 2020, including an outlet in Fforestfach, Swansea, which closed on September 13.

There is no sign that the Sports Direct or Miss Selfridge stores in Morfa Shopping Park, Bon-y-Maen, are closing.

At Morfa Shopping Park, Miss Selfridge is one of the brands featured at the Outfit store along with other fashion names, including Top Shop and Dorothy Perkins.

WalesOnline has approached both Sports Direct and Miss Selfridge for comment on the future of their city centre stores.
