Sports book sets line for Dolphins 2020 projected win total

The NFL offseason is forging ahead as planned — and despite the inactivity on so many fronts due to the coronavirus outbreak, the wheels continue to turn as though the NFL’s 2020 regular season will take place as regularly scheduled, as well. And with that in mind, some of the sports books across the country have begun to turn their eyes towards the 2020 season; especially now that free agency has opened and teams have begun stacking up veteran players to help boost their rosters for the season ahead.

For the Miami Dolphins, this season will serve as a measure of progress. The Dolphins surged to a 5-4 mark over the team’s final 9 contests — and was a two point conversion against the Washington Redskins and a bogus defensive pass interference call against the Jets away from finishing the year 7-5 over their final 12 games. Football, as they say, is just a game of inches.

But for William Hill, the Dolphins 2019 success at the end of the year offers little bearing on what the year ahead holds. The sports book released their 2020 NFL win totals this past week and the Dolphins own the 5th lowest total in the NFL: 6 wins.

With the draft still left to be played out, there’s plenty more improvement for the Dolphins to undergo; but it is definitely surprising to see Miami with such a low number in the face of Tom Brady’s departure from New England and so many other teams picking around the Dolphins in this year’s draft with higher win lines; such as the Chargers’ 7.5 wins and the Lions’ 6.5 wins.

With a last place schedule in the AFC, Miami is set up favorably to make a push for .500 in 2020, although we’ll need to see how the rest of this roster reclamation goes throughout the offseason. For the time being, we’re leaning “over” on six wins, though.
