New sports bar with drinks as cheap as Wetherspoon opens in Bristol

Bristol city centre is home to plenty of decent bars for all occasions, but you could argue there's a lack of dedicated sports bars.

Aside from a few options including Walkabout and All Stars there isn't a wealth of choice - but after the recent launch of HallPass there's a new place for people to try.

Replacing the Faraway cocktail bar on Small Street, which closed earlier this summer, HallPass boasts 12 large screens perfect for watching the action with a wide range of sports set to be shown.

Alongside the live sports there's a selection of classic arcade games including Daytona and Virtua Cop 3, a free fussball table and a beer pong table people can play on for free, booze excluded.

But the main draw for punters could well be the drinks prices, with owner Mark Harris matching Wetherspoon.

"We've tried to pick all the best bits out of the student bars in the city and incorporate them here," said Mark, who also owns the nearby Asylum nightclub.

"It's a great location near loads of student flats and right in the city centre, and we've price matched Wetherspoon so our drinks are nice and cheap.

"I've always wanted to own a sports bar which shows all kinds of sports, not just the main football matches, so we're going to be showing American Football on Sundays and other things like that.

"I wanted to make it a place where people can come and spend all day, which is why we serve food and have immersive games, with the escape rooms opening soon."

The bar has two private areas which groups of people can book out for the ultimate experience, while Mark also plans to open an escape room and virtual gaming arena in the basement downstairs.

To accompany the bargain pints there will be a selection of pizzas to choose from, with prices ranging from £4.50 for a small to £17.50 for an 18" premium option.

Everyone who visits HallPass will receive a token which grants them free entry to the Asylum nightclub on St Stephen's Street.

HallPass is located at 15 Small Street, Bristol, BS1 1DE and is open seven days a week.
