Sporting News ranks Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins the best receiver in the NFL

Everyone in Harris County has thought for a while DeAndre Hopkins was the best receiver in the NFL. Now, that opinion of the Houston Texans receiver is being shared nationally.

According to Sporting News, who recently ranked their top-25 wideouts in the league, the All-Pro receiver is the best in the game.

Fantasy football players know this: Hopkins does not have bad games. He has either spectacular games or very good games. He is a complete, smooth target and has become only more locked in with a quarterback, Deshaun Watson, who consistently knows where and when to find him open – which is everywhere and most of the time. A lot more Nuk, please.

It is one thing to be a great receiver when a great quarterback is tossing you the ball, a la Antonio Brown with Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. It is quite another to make All-Pro with the likes of Tom Savage and T.J. Yates chucking it up, as was the case for Hopkins in 2017 when Houston stumbled to a 4-12 record.

Adding Watson allows Hopkins to reach an even higher plane in his game. The former 2013 first-round pick did not have a single drop in 2018 and tied Andre Johnson for the club’s single-season catch record with 115.

If Hopkins can continue to produce the bounty of 100-yard receiving games or lead the NFL in touchdown receptions, it will keep him in people’s minds as a dominant receiver. With competent quarterback play from Watson, there is no reason to believe that won’t happen in 2019.
