Sporting News ranks CenturyLink Field as 2nd-best stadium in NFL

CenturyLink Field, home of the Seattle Seahawks and Sounders FC, is widely regarded as one of the premier stadiums in sports.

On Seahawks game days, the stadium — which opened on July 28, 2002 —  holds over 69,000 fans, one of the loudest crowds in the league.

Sporting News, which recently looked at all 31 stadiums around the league, ranked CenturyLink Field as the second-best venue in the NFL.

“Seattle lies on Puget Sound, and it’s known for coffee, rain and grunge,” writes Vinnie Iyer. “So it’s appropriate for its stadium to have a loud, perked-up crowd that forms its own elemental mosh pit of intimidation. It serves up a home-field advantage like no other.”

According to Iyer, only one venue in the NFL tops CenturyLink Field — Lambeau Stadium, home of the Green Bay Packers.

Seahawks fans who are lucky enough to score tickets on game days enjoy some of the best food, drinks and views across the country.

Most around here would argue CenturyLink Field deserves the No. 1 spot.
