Sporting News believes Raiders WR Antonio Brown is a lock to make Hall of Fame

Heading into the 2019 season, this is by far the most talented roster the Oakland Raiders have had this decade. The team has multiple Pro Bowl level talents at several key positions, and the rest of the roster is filled with young players fighting for jobs.

Despite all of their talent, how many future Hall of Famers does this current Raiders’ team have on their roster? In a recent article by Sporting News, they ranked each team’s players that are the most likely to reach the Hall of Fame by the end of their career.

For the Raiders, just two players made the list; Rodney Hudson and Antonio Brown. Hudson was given a 40 percent chance to reach the Hall of Fame, while Brown was considered a lock. Take a look at site writer Vinnie Iyer’s thoughts on Brown’s Hall of Fame bid:

He doesn’t need to play a down for the Raiders to get the Canton call, and there is nothing he has done on or off the field to keep him out.

While Brown will likely make the Hall of Fame, it seems premature to assume he is a lock to make it to Canton. There are many receivers with superior stats who haven’t received their gold jacket yet, such as Drew Pearson, Sterling Sharpe, and Cliff Branch.

Brown will likely need at least a handful of successful seasons in Oakland to ensure that he makes the Hall of Fame. Given his talent and his incredible work ethic, that doesn’t seem all that unlikely. Whenever Brown does decide to hang up his cleats, expect him to be a first-ballot Hall of Famer.
