Sporting Lisbon boss sends Man Utd message about Bruno Fernandes after positive start

Sporting Lisbon boss Silas says Manchester United fans haven't seen the best of Bruno Fernandes yet despite his impressive start to life at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese attacking midfielder has scored three times in his six appearances for the Red Devils since joining from Sporting in January.

Fernandes netted from the penalty spot in the Premier League win over Watford and the Europa League success over Club Brugge, and he followed that up with a shot from distance that beat the dive of Jordan Pickford in Sunday's 1-1 draw at home to Everton .

United fans have been delighted with the impact of Fernandes since his move, and Silas says that they can expect to see even more from him soon.

“Was there any doubt that Bruno Fernandes was going to arrive at Manchester United and be what he is? He will do more,” Silas told a press conference on Monday, via Portuguese outlet Record .

“Imagine in a few months, when he is more integrated.

"I saw him training every day, honestly, I’ve never seen a player like Bruno, who spent an hour practicing shots after training. I had to say ‘Bruno, that’s enough’.

"When he goes to a team like that, which is also good, it’s normal. He’s very outgoing, can adapt easily.”

Fernandes was a regular goalscorer in Portugal, netting 64 times in 137 appearances for Sporting across three seasons in the first-team, including 15 goals in 28 games this season before he joined United.

Old Trafford boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praised Fernandes after the Everton draw, telling BBC Sport : "He's a good player and we have been missing that type of player to do that for us.

"I'm very pleased with his contribution."
