Sporting Lisbon boss Marcel Keizer has dropped a subtle hint that Bruno Fernandes could leave this month by looking for replacements for the midfielder, according to reports.
Fernandes is strongly linked with a move to Manchester United, but the Red Devils are yet to make an official approach for the Portugal international.
Sporting want a huge transfer fee for the midfielder and United are reluctant to splash the cash on a player who has little to no Champions League football.
As a result United's transfer pursuit has hit a road block over the past week, but reports from Portugal suggest Sporting are coming to terms with the fact their talisman may leave.
Portuguese newspaper O Jogo is reporting that Keizer has actively been on the lookout for Fernandes' replacement, suggesting he has acknowledged the fact the 24-year-old wants out.
Solksjaer recently spoke out about United's recruitment policy and although didn't name-drop Fernandes, admitted he'd travel to secure a transfer for the right man.
"As I've said and answered a few times, we're working on one or two cases," said Solskjaer. "But obviously my objective now when I'm here is we've got to get ready for the games and training sessions.
"And if I've got to travel somewhere I will. And you won't be able to ask me. We're working on putting a squad together that can compete.
"Of course we have some youngsters but we have loads of players that can play and loads of ways we can play, if there's a slight change of system is possible.
"Of course we're always on the lookout for good players. And I've been impressed with a few.
"So we do have players that we are watching and following and when we feel they are ready we'll maybe try to make them come to Man United."
