One of Granit Xhaka's former clubs appear to have ruled out re-signing the Arsenal midfielder.
Xhaka caused controversy on Sunday after he upset Gunners supporters during their 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace at the Emirate Stadium.
Fans cheered as he subbed off before booing him as he left the pitch. The Swiss international reacted by swearing and cupping his ear before ripping off his shirt and storming down the tunnel.
Unai Emery has called on Xhaka to apologise to the fans and the midfielder was left out of the side that lost on penalties to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl has now suggest that signing Xhaka could 'damage his club after he was asked about the prospect of a return.
He told Sportbuzzer, via SportWitness: "Of course, as a player, I could always picture him as a good player, but it's difficult to get him back. Not just financially, but also from the point of view of expectations.
"Players develop and change. In the end, you could end up doing more damage than you can win, so I'm not really a fan of return."
He also commented on Xhaka's current situation at Arsenal, adding: "I am very sorry for him personally. In my view, it is incomprehensible.
"For me, it is totally incomprehensible from a distance, since I know that in England the fans always support their clubs and the players, especially their captain.
"Granit didn't go [to Arsenal] for nothing, but because he is a top professional. An emotional player who gives everything for his club."
