Welcome to the Guardian Sport quiz of the year

It’s a tradition on a par with the Queen’s speech, watching It’s A Wonderful Life and half the country crying and the other half getting cross about the John Lewis advert. Well, it has been for a bit, anyway. Sort of. Let’s make it a tradition.

But before that, let’s explain the rules. There will be five rounds of questions, posted at regular intervals (details below). You receive one mark per correct answer - so where four answers are required in a question, you can be awarded four points. At the end of the quiz a form will be posted in which you can put your answers. You’ll have an hour to post your answers. The answers will be fed into our complex Mark-O-Matic computer system (whichever work experience kid who didn’t manage to hide under the desk when we asked) and the winners will be notified via email. This is mainly for glory, but also prizes of some fine literature from the last year in sport.

Got it?

The Rounds

  • Round One: General knowledge - 12.30pm
  • Round Two: Quotes (a video round) - 12.45pm
  • Round Three: Football - 12.55pm
  • Round Four: Pictures (a picture round) - 1.05pm
  • Round Five: Odds & ends - 1.20pm

Any questions? Mail them to Nick.Miller@theguardian.com and, assuming they’re not stupid, I’ll do my best to answer them.
