Boxing: Golovkin stops brave Murray in 11th round
Martin Murray fell victim to Gennady Golovkin’s brutal power when he was stopped in the 11th round by the unbeaten Kazakh who retained his WBA title in Monte Carlo. The St Helens fighter was knocked down twice in the fourth round, the first time Murray had been dropped in his career, and the weight of Golovkin’s shots ultimately proved too much for the brave Englishman. Earlier, in Berlin, Paul Smith failed to gain revenge on Arthur Abraham when he lost a unanimous points decision to the WBO world super middleweight champion. Smith could have few complaints in the rematch as the judges awarded the bout 116-112, 117-111, 117-111 to the 35-year-old. PA
Motor Racing: McLaren struggle again
