Brisbane aren't in any rush to get back to Queensland despite the end of a COVID lockdown in the city, with the NRL club preparing to spend next week in Sydney.
The Broncos have been in NSW since Monday after they left home before the imposition of a three-day snap lockdown for the greater Brisbane region by the Queensland government following a COVID outbreak.
Brisbane will fly to Melbourne on Friday to face the Storm at AAMI Park before then returning to Sydney after the match.
Broncos coach Kevin Walters says the decision to lift Brisbane's lockdown by Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk on Thursday is unlikely to alter their plans to stay in NSW ahead of next week's clash with South Sydney.
"All indications are that we'll be here for at least another week for the South Sydney game so we're comfortable with that," Walters said.
Brisbane's AFL team is also unlikely to rush back home despite having been in Victoria for over a week.
The Lions flew out of Brisbane last week ahead of their clash with Geelong at GMHBA Stadium.
They've remained in Melbourne since then with Thursday's round three match against Collingwood to be played at Marvel Stadium after being moved from the Gabba by the AFL.
It's understood at this stage Brisbane will most likely remain in Victoria following the game against the Magpies before taking on the Western Bulldogs next weekend in Ballarat.
The Gold Coast's NRL and AFL teams are also interstate with the Suns in South Australia for an away game against Adelaide on Friday and the Titans to play Canberra on Saturday at Netstrate Jubilee Stadium in a double-header including North Queensland's game against Cronulla.
It's unclear when the Suns and Titans will return to Queensland but with both having home matches next weekend, the expectation is that they will travel at some point following their games.
That's the scenario facing the Queensland Reds, who departed for Melbourne on Thursday ahead of their Super Rugby AU clash with the Rebels on Saturday.
Reds officials have already confirmed the team will fly back to Brisbane on Sunday and next week's home game at Suncorp Stadium against the Brumbies is set to go ahead as scheduled.
The Brisbane Roar, meanwhile, will have home matches this weekend for both its A-League and W-League teams.
The men's clash with Western Sydney Wanderers at Redcliffe's Moreton Daily Stadium was confirmed on Thursday to go ahead as scheduled on Saturday.
The Roar women will then host Melbourne Victory in a home semi-final on Sunday afternoon.
The NBL postponed four games as a result of the lockdown, while the Australian open and age swimming championships on the Gold Coast this month are expected to go ahead without issue.
