Spooky '24-hour scaring device' driving Dublin residents cuckoo as investigation launched into mysterious sound

A spooky '24-hour scaring device' has been driving Dublin residents demented over the last couple of days as a mystery surrounds its eerie air presence.

An investigation has been launched into the bird-scaring tool - which mimics distress sounds and calls of birds of prey - that has been driving locals cuckoo down by the docklands.

The gadget is being used at the Central Bank building in the area and sends out amplified bird calls - which the bank says is a necessity in order to protect equipment on their roof.

But, Dublin City Council has launched an investigation into the noises following several, serious complaints according to this morning's The Irish Times.

The device has been operating on a "24-hour basis" causing a disturbance overnight which has been keeping people awake for hours.

Dublin City Council's Air Quality and Noise Control monitoring units will investigate the tool.

The Central Bank added: "This device also serves to protect birds from related hazards, such as fan blades and other mechanical equipment."
