Sponsors call on FAI to put in place recommendations by Grant Thornton and Mazars reviews

FAI sponsors Three and New Balance on Friday called on the FAI to put in place whatever recommendations are recommended by their Grant Thornton and Mazars reviews.

In a statement Three said: “As primary sponsor of the Irish national football team and all international squads, our focus is on promoting the game of football for fans and our customers right across the country.

“Corporate governance is of upmost importance at Three and we expect the same from all partners we work with.

“We note that the FAI has commissioned two reports to review recent matters and we expect all recommendations to be implemented.”

Kit suppliers New Balance also expressed their concerns over the crisis.

A spokesperson said: “Regarding [Wednesday’s] Oireachtas Committee meeting, we note with interest that the FAI has commissioned various reports to review recent financial and corporate governance matters and we urge the FAI to implement all recommendations as soon as possible.”

Meanwhile SSE Airtricity, another major sponsor for the past ten years, said it is monitoring the current developments, while Bus Éireann said it will continue to discuss and review its association on an ongoing basis.
