Splendour organisers make 'heart-breaking decision' to postpone 2020 festival as new date is announced

It was one of only a few big summer events still going ahead across the county but organisers of the annual Splendour Festival have today (May 7) announced it is to be postponed.

Around 30,000 were expected to the annual family festival at Wollaton Park on Saturday, July 18 to see the likes of Supergrass, James, Belinda Carlisle, Rick Astley, Sleeper and The Vamps.

"Throughout these difficult months, we've been cautiously optimistic about Splendour Festival going ahead as planned," said organisers DHP Family.

"However, it is now clear that we cannot go ahead and have made the heart-breaking decision to postpone this year's event for the first time in our 12 year history."

The new date is next summer, Saturday, July 24 and tickets remain valid.

Organisers are in talks with the bands and musicians already booked for Splendour 2020 to keep them on the line-up for next year's festival.

They said: "We are still working on the line-up for Splendour 2021 and are talking to artists that are currently booked and also to new artists about their plans. We’ll be announcing the line-up at a later date once we have all of this confirmed. What’s guaranteed is a great mix of acts across all five stages."

Refunds are available from point of purchase but DHP Family is hoping ticket holders will help support the event and keep hold of their existing tickets for the new date.

"If you have your ticket already, you don’t need to do anything – your ticket for 2020 will be valid for entry in 2021," they advised.

"If you’ve bought a ticket but it hasn’t yet been delivered, you will be posted a ticket ahead of next year’s festival.

"If you’re unfortunately unable to join us, then refunds are available at your point of purchase. Please get in touch with your ticket provider directly by September 1 for full details on this."

Anyone who wants to buy a ticket for Splendour 2021 they are on sale here.

A standard ticket is £58.85, coming down to £47.85 when the Nottingham City discount is applied (council tax bill is required). Tickets for Nottingham City residents aged 11-17 are £23.10.
