Spitting Image is out now on Britbox and here's how to watch it - and the old classics - for free

For over a decade it was one of the most-watched shows on TV and now satirical puppet show Spitting Image is back and set to entertain a whole new generation of viewers - in what seems like a whole new world.

The topical show ran from 1984 to 1996, forming the backdrop to everyday life as, with its sharp wit and often grotesque puppets, it lampooned political figures - and other famous names - of the day.

And now, more than 20 years on, it's back and - with seemingly no end of topics to address in this pandemic year - it will be getting people talking once again with a new set of caricatures and more political finger-poking.

Its subjects are all sorts of public figures and among those transformed to puppet form are Boris Johnson, Dominic Cummings, Vladimir Putin and Kim Kardashian.

As in the original series, when the Queen Mother regularly featured in its royal sketches, it appears that nobody is safe and a puppet of teenage environmental activist Greta Thunberg is pictured on the show's publicity material.

The new series is now available to watch on BritBox - the online subscription service, created by the BBC and ITV - with episodes streaming weekly.

And there's an opportunity to watch its return for free.

BritBox is offering a free trial with no contract involved so that it can be cancelled at any time.

A perk for many will be the fact there are no advert breaks.

Classic episodes from the original series, featuring favourite moments from the eighties and nineties, are also available on BritBox, .

Take note that after the free trial a monthly subscription of £5.99 will renew automatically unless it is cancelled.
