Spitfire and Hurricane planes will fly over Nottinghamshire this weekend - here's where to see them

Iconic vintage aircrafts will be taking to the skies above Nottinghamshire this weekend.

Plane enthusiasts will get to see a Spitfire and a Hurricane perform a flypast over part of the county on Saturday afternoon.

The planes will take a route through Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire.

In Nottinghamshire, Newark is the place to be if you want to catch a glimpse, as the Spitfire and Hurricane are expected to be seen from there at just after 1.20pm.

The vintage display is all part of the Moira Canal Festival, which takes place at the Moira Furnace Museum, in Leicestershire across the weekend.

Activities on offer include a medieval living history camp and armoured fight demonstrations, LeicestershireLive reports.

Visitors can also enjoy live music, arts and crafts, balloon modelling, and the annual Duck Race along the Ashby Canal.

The festival takes place from 10am - 5.30pm on Saturday, 18 and Sunday, 19 May.

Tickets cost £5 for adults and £2.50 for children, with free parking available.

The aircraft will depart a at 13:16, taking a route which includes:

13:24 - Newark

13:40 - Moira

14:00 - Podington

14:07 - Shortstown

14:15 - Cambridge

14:19 - Aldreth

14:35 - Bicker

14:45 - Skegness
