Spine-tingling version of You'll Never Walk Alone like you've never seen before

A Merseyside orchestra has performed a spine-tingling version of You'll Never Walk Alone - despite all members being in isolation.

Over 40 members of the Maghull Wind Orchestra performed their parts of the beloved song on video, before they were stitched together to release the completed version to time with Thursday evening's Clap for Carers event.

The song pays tribute to the NHS at a time of national crisis, as the United Kingdom continues to battle the coronvirus pandemic.

Trombonist Christopher Horswood had the challenge of editing them all together and he admitted that he was "humbled" by the efforts of the orchestra.

He said: “The virtual concert has provided a challenge, mixing the audio separately to the video which enabled some freedom for the levels of different instruments. Individual videos then had to be lined up with the master audio, ensuring all performers were included in the edit.

"It has made me feel humbled that this video is being done as a thank you to the hard-working NHS staff who are doing admirable work during these times.”

Chair of Maghull Wind Orchestra Kate Warriner added: “Both as MWO Chair and working for the NHS I’m really proud of MWO for this amazing version of YNWA dedicated to our NHS friends and colleagues. A poignant message – you’ll never walk alone.”

A number of NHS staff feature in the video including pharmacists on clarinet and baritone saxaphone, a nurse and chief digital information officer on flute and an IT system support worker on trombone.

The finished version will be available on Maghull Wind Orchestra’s YouTube channel by following this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJNRMgG8DmU as well as on Facebook (MaghullWindOrchestra), Twitter (@MaghullWindOrch) and the orchestra’s website – www.maghullwindorchestra.co.uk.
