It's a fact - the UK loves independent coffee shops , but no other city loves them as much as ours.
Beating London, Manchester and Glasgow to the top spot, the new data from financial technology company iZettle shows that Edinburgh is the biggest supporter of independently-owned coffee shops.
The data also shows that in the UK we drink 1000 coffees from these shops every single minute, with a whopping £1.4 million spent daily.
Frappes appear to be the caffeinated beverage of the moment - having risen in popularity by 60% in two years - whilst in comparison, the mocha has almost halved in sales.

The data has also shown that on average Brits are paying £3 or more for Vietnamese Coffee or Drip Coffee, which is almost double the average price of a humble filter coffee.
The data from iZettle has been released during UK Coffee Week - the nation’s biggest celebration of coffee that unites the industry with coffee lovers to raise valuable funds for the communities at the source of our coffee.
