Student 'given CPR for 20 minutes' after being 'spiked' in nightclub

An Edge Hill University student claims her friends had to give her CPR for 20 minutes after she was 'spiked' in a nightclub.

Rhiannon Smith said she drank three single vodka Red Bulls at Alpine Club Lodge in Ormskirk on Friday, October 22 when her hearing suddenly became muffled and the room began spinning.

She said: "I feel lucky to be alive. I think I'm still in denial about the whole situation and I don't think it's sunk in that it happened.

"I'm so vigilant with my drinks on a night out, especially with everything that's happening at the moment, and I can't remember a time where I left it or wasn't looking at it."

Police name man charged with terrorism and 'extreme' porn offences

A man suspected of terrorism offences and possessing 'extreme' pornographic images has been named by police.

Mason Yates of Elstreet Court, Widnes, was arrested by officers following a warrant at his address on Friday, January 8.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "Every year thousands of reports from the public help police tackle the terrorist threat.

"If you see or hear something that doesn’t seem right, trust your instincts and ACT by reporting to police in confidence at gov.uk/ACT."

Armed gang knock man out and steal watch from his wrist

A man was attacked and burgled in his own home by three masked criminals.

Police said that three men armed with bats and knives went into a house through the back, on Beechtrees, Skelmersdale.

A spokesperson for Lancashire police said: "We are appealing for information after a man was assaulted during a burglary in Skelmersdale.

"It happened at shortly before 12:45pm on Tuesday (November 2nd) when three men armed with bats and knives, have entered the rear of a house on Beechtrees."
