Spike O'Sullivan says there's plenty of fight left in him as he vows to continue boxing

Gary 'Spke' O'Sullivan says there's plenty of fight left in him as he bids to bounce back from his defeat to Jaime Munguia.

Following the loss there had been rumours that the Cork native could hang up his gloves, but he has vowed to continue fighting and is still aiming to win a world title.

He posted on Twitter: "So I was thinking there's most likely more of my career behind me than ahead of me but there is plenty of fight left in me yet and I'll continue to fight and go to war and entertain the fans, I'd like to thank ye for the support through the years. I'll get that world title yet."

O'Sullivan's coach Paschal Collins threw in the towel in the 11th round of the main event in San Antonio, Texas last month.

Munguia was on top at the time of the stoppage and O’Sullivan was soaking up heavy shots on the ropes when Collins called time on the twelve rounder.

Speaking after the bout, O'Sullivan said: “The sorest thing about me is my leg. He hit me a good few shots in my leg. I’m walking around limping. I wanted to continue. A fighter always wants to fight on, but sometimes you’re too brave for your own good.

“I was talking to Sergio Mora; he was on the commentary. He said he wanted me to continue as well but that Paschal made the right decision.”
