Spike Lee has said that he is open to the possibility of directing a Marvel movie.

The award-winning filmmaker spoke about the prospect, stating: “I will give it consideration.”

Lee told Entertainment Weekly: “I have nothing against Marvel. I grew up reading Spider-Man comic books.”

The 63-year-old did, however, add that he thought “DC Comics was always corny. I’m just saying. I was all about Marvel”.

While there are not yet any plans for Lee to take on a Marvel film, Lee said: “If the right opportunity comes across. I’m not campaigning for it but  I will give it consideration.”

Earlier this month, Lee’s well-received film Da 5 Bloods missed out on a Golden Globe nomination.

The snub was one of many controversial decisions in this year’s line-up, with many film critics and fans also condemning the absence of Michaela Coel’s critically acclaimed BBC series I May Destroy You.

Da 5 Bloods debuted in June last year to positive reviews from both critics and fans. The film is Lee’s first Netflix venture.
