'Spider-Man: No Way Home' was off to a flying start at the Indian box office on Thursday.
The superhero film that recorded the biggest advance bookings sales, has reportedly registered itself as the second-biggest opening for a Hollywood film in India. According to reports on boxofficeindia.com, the film earned an impressive collection of an estimated Rs 35 crore on Thursday.
With this, the film has now taken down 'Avengers: Infinity War' to take the second spot on the list of highest Hollywood openers in India. 'Infinity War' that released back in 2018, opened to an impressive Rs 31 crore. It was dethroned by 'Avengers: Endgame' that recorded a spectacular Rs 53 crore on its opening day.
At the domestic box office, 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' is now the highest grossing film post pandemic. Akshay Kumar starrer 'Sooryavanshi' opened to a collection of Rs 26.50 crore.
'Endgame' is still among the highest openers in India, after 'Baahubali: The Conclusion', 'War' and 'Thugs of Hindostan'.
According to the reports, the 'No Way Home' box office numbers are expected to rise, once final figures from all sectors come in later today.
The film has amassed around Rs 35 crore nett from advance bookings for the weekend. Of the said amount, it earned an estimated Rs 16-17 crore nett on its first day.
It was also reported that the film recorded the third-highest advance ever after 'Avengers: Endgame' and 'Baahubali: The Conclusion', both of which have been global smash hits.
The numbers indicate that 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' will beat out the Bollywood release 'Sooryavanshi' to become this year's highest-grossing film at the Indian box office.
On the global front, the film is also touted to smash records and become the first billion-dollar film of the post-pandemic era.
