Spider-Man: Far From Home scene creates plot hole in Avengers: Endgame

Spider-Man: Far From Homeseemingly created a hole in the plot of Avengers: Endgame, whichmay have been caused by different production teams working on the films.

Following the sacrifice made by Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) in Endgame, 2019’s Far From Home, which is considered by fans to be an epilogue to theAvengers adventure, shows Peter Parker (Tom Holland) receiving a surprise gift from his mentor in the form of a pair of glasses.

While Parker thinks that he has just been given a simple accessory, a note from Stark reveals that the specs – named EDITH – are actually an AI that can control all of his own technology.

Among the Stark Industries tech that the AI can take over is an army of combat drones orbiting the earth, which Parker nearly kills his friend Brad Davis with. But, in a resurfaced theory, fans pointed out their existence in the Spider-Man adventure causes a problem in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

As the glasses were in existence before Tony’s death, it must be questioned why he didn’t use them during the attack on the Avengers Headquarters; it would have made what was a close fight into an easier win.

On a plot level, it could be argued that the drones were yet to be activated during the epic battle, but it seems more likely that the discrepancy came from different production teams working on the films.

Far From Home co-editor Dan Lebental told The Hollywood Reporterin June 2019: “They did show us Endgame early, but way into the process on this film.

“At a certain point we had our conceptions of what Endgame was but then I saw it. ‘OK. We need to make a few adjustments.’”
