Victoria Beckham and her fellow Spice Girls have led the birthday tributes for the “one and only” Geri Halliwell-Horner.
The singer, nicknamed Ginger Spice, has been flooded with messages of goodwill as she turns 54 on Thursday, with the chart-topping girl group members among those joining in the celebrations.
Lady Beckham, known as Posh Spice, posted a throwback photo of herself hugging her bandmate to her 33 million Instagram followers and wrote: “Happy birthday @GeriHalliwellHorner. I love you.”
Melanie Chisholm, or Mel C, also posted on social media to mark the occasion with a carousel of throwback images dating back to their Spice Girl days.
“Happy Birthday to the one and only Ginger Spice,” she wrote.
The star, nicknamed Sporty Spice, added: “We love you @GeriHalliwellHorner, can’t wait to see you and celebrate soon.”
Emma Bunton opted for a selection of recent photos together, which were seemingly taken at her 50th birthday celebrations earlier this year.
Halliwell-Horner was kissing Baby Spice on the cheek in the images, which were captioned: “Happy birthday to my Spice sister, my friend @GeriHalliwellHorner! Love and hugs, always.”
Melanie Brown, nicknamed Mel B or Scary Spice, joined in the celebrations with three throwback photos, along with one taken during their 2019 Spice Girls reunion tour.
“Happy birthday to my SPICE SISTER @GeriHalliwellHorner,” she captioned the post, which was shared to her 1.8 million followers.
A video tribute was also shared to the Spice Girls’ official Instagram page of a compilation of archive clips of Halliwell-Horner during her time in the 1990s girl band.
The post featured many shots of Ginger Spice in her signature Union Jack ensemble, and was captioned: “It’s time to celebrate our Ginger Spice!
“Happy birthday @GeriHalliwellHorner. We hope you have an amazing day!”
Christian Horner, who has been married to the Spice Girl for more than a decade, shared a sweet selfie with his wife as he joined the well-wishers.
“Happy Birthday @GeriHalliwellHorner. Have an amazing day and another lap around the sun,” the former racing driver wrote.
“We all love you very much x.”
Halliwell-Horner shot to fame in the Spice Girls after the release of their debut single Wannabe in 1996, which recently celebrated its 30th anniversary.
The award-winning group has also produced hits such as Stop, 2 Become 1, Who Do You Think You Are? and Viva Forever, amassing nine UK number one singles and two chart-topping albums.
Halliwell-Horner shocked the world when she left the band in 1998, citing “differences between us”, and in December 2000 the rest of the group went their separate ways, announcing an indefinite hiatus.
They reunited in 2012 for the closing ceremony of the London Summer Olympics and in 2019 for their Spice World tour, but have since been the subject of speculation about a return to the stage.
