Spice Girls: Emma Bunton denies reports band will reform

Spice Girls: a little-known 1990s girlband ()

Five were set to become four after reports that the Spice Girls were due to reunite without Victoria Beckham for a 20th anniversary tour in 2016.

But, much to the disappointment of Spice Girls fans, Emma Bunton has denied rumours of a reunion.

Bunton, Geri Halliwell, Mel C and Mel B were reported to re-form for an international tour next year, according to The Sun, while Victoria Beckham is said to have declined due to the demands of running her fashion brand.

Bunton has said there are no plans for a comeback.

“If anything happens and it’s concrete, and we decide on something, I will let you know, but nothing’s happening at the moment,” she said on her Heart breakfast radio show.

But Victoria Beckham and Mel C have tweeted messages suggesting a reunion could still be on the cards:

Ginger, Posh, Baby, Scary and Sporty sold more than 75m records and had nine number ones singles following their breakthrough smash hit “Wannabe” in 1996.

Their debut album, Spice, made them the fastest-selling British act since the Beatles.

Halliwell left the girl group in 1998, and the band continued as a foursome for a time but split up in 2001 to pursue solo projects.

They last reunited in 2007 for a 47-date tour, stating it would be the last time they performed together.

The Spice Girls briefly reunited to perform together again at the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics.
