SPFL unveil lower league shutdown masterplan with reconstruction on the table

The SPFL have put forward their plans to clubs outside of the Premiership to finish the league campaign.

The plan put forward after crunch talks today would see the remainder of the Ladbrokes Championship, League One and League Two axed without playing the remaining games.

The play-off games would also be cancelled and Dundee United, Raith and Cove Rangers would be promoted with Partick Thistle and Stranraer relegated.

Brechin, who are bottom of the pyramid, would not face the risk of dropping out of the leagues with the relegation play-off also axed.

Raith would be handed the title ahead of Airdrie (Garry F McHarg Daily Record)

In the tightest title race in Scotland, would see Raith pip Airdrie and Falkirk to the League One glory despite less than 0.2 points per game separating the sides.

However, the SPFL stated they have will consult with clubs over the possibility of league restructuring ahead of next season if their decision is firmed up by clubs.

Lanarkshire Live Sport understands that clubs have been asked to submit their vote by this Friday (April 10).

If the proposal is approved the crucial end-of-season payments would be handed to clubs now to help them during the national crisis.

Neil Doncaster confirmed in a statement that decisions were still to be taken regarding the Premiership as it "remains particularly complicated."
