UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin believes the decision to end Ligue 1 was "premature" - firing a warning to the SPFL.
The French government decreed that sporting events would be banned until September, forcing French football chiefs into ending the season.
Governing body UEFA has made clear that it will accept ending seasons early if it's by government order or for financial reasons.
But with Celtic set to be crowned Premiership champions in the coming days the UEFA president's words strike an ominous tone.
Ceferin told BeIn Sports: "For us, the important thing is to know who is champion, second, third and fourth.
"My opinion on cancelling the season so early is that it's not ideal because many (leagues) have proven you can play, with a few exceptions.
"But it's up to the government to say what you can do.

"In my opinion this decision is premature.
"This decision doesn't affect UEFA, and I respect the decision which was taken by the relevant bodies in France."
Ceferin was also asked about European competitions, with Lyon and Paris Saint-Germain still in the Champions League.
He said: "I don't see why the French authorities would ban a match without spectators.
"We'll see though, that's not my responsibility."
