Scotland's national clinical director Jason Leitch insists football clubs will see supporters back in grounds before long.
The Scottish Government's new guidance published this week will allow for up to 2,000 fans at games once the country hits 'Level 0' of the Covid tier system.
As long as progress is made in keeping cases, hospitalisations and deaths down as society emerges from lockdown once more, the Government hopes to reach that stage by the end of June.
Record Sport revealed this week that clubs involved in SPFL promotion playoffs could see supporters return - and Leitch revealed they could even push for higher numbers if they seek permission.
The planned level change comes too late for post-split games at Premiership clubs but it's still great news for fans that have been locked out of grounds for well over a year now.
Leitch told the BBC's Off the Ball: "We published, just this week, the new levels tables.
"They are a little bit indicative, they're not fixed in time, but it has a section on stadia and events.
"The kind of, what you will be allowed to do without seeking more permission. That goes up to 2,000 outdoor seated.
"But then there's an asterisk which says, 'higher capacities can be agreed through local authorities and the Scottish Government', a bit like we've done for the Euros.
"So I think, in time, we're heading to people in stadia. It will depend on dates and how well we do over the next few weeks, but I'm hopeful that we'll get crowds in.
"I'm not sure what the dates or the matches are."
