And now John McGinn is proving he's Premier League quality after netting Aston Villa's first goal on their return to the top flight.
McGinn played a key role in helping the Midlands side back to the Premier League last season, with his man of the match performance in the play-off final against Derby proving pivotal.
The former Hibernian star was rewarded with a bumper new five-year contract for his efforts.
And the 24-year-old has wasted no time in repaying the faith shown in him after scoring their opener against Tottenham in front of more than 60,000 fans.
In doing so he became the first Scottish player since 2010 to score on his Premier League debut.
Scotland manager Steve Clarke will surely be delighted if McGinn can keep up his fine form in England's top flight.
Especially as the Tartan Army face two crunch qualifiers in September against Russia and Belgium.
He's also already got English fans tipping him for a great season and a bright future in the top division.
