Spencer Tunick brings naked crowd to Alexandra Palace for new socially distanced artwork

A new work by American artist Spencer Tunick saw a crowd of volunteers gathered outside Alexandra Palace - wearing nothing but face masks.

Renowned for his live installations of mass crowds of naked people, participants in Tunick’s latest work covered their faces but otherwise embraced the exposure.

The artwork, entitled Everyone Together, was created with social distancing to mark the launch of Sky Arts channel going free. Over 200 people took part in what was the UK’s first major participatory work of art since lockdown.

Tunick has been photographing naked people in public locations since 1992, including outside Sydney Opera House and in London’s Selfridges.

Sky Arts unveiled a series of new commissions today to mark going free to air, including a documentary with Irvine Welsh looking at the nature of offence, the directorial debut of Ashley Walters with a short film and a Sky Arts Book Club.
