The UFC and NASCAR have returned to action, and while MLB players and owners appear headed for a financial battle, the NBA is slowly moving toward a potential restart to the 2019-2020 regular season.
According to a report from The Athletic on Wednesday, Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, is a “frontrunner” to serve as a single bubble site that would host all remaining games. Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, NBA commissioner Adam Silver is expected to outline guidelines for a return around June 1st, which means it will still likely be several weeks until all NBA teams are allowed to formally practice.
On Thursday, fans got an interesting update on Twitter from Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie. In response to a tweet that the NBA will return on June 21st, Dinwiddie wrote that teams will begin practicing on that date, with games set to resume a few weeks later on July 15th.
New York Times reporter Marc Stein reported that he’s heard multiple sources talking about a similar timeline.
Depending on the timing, we could be headed toward the NBA Finals and the start of the NBA season happening simultaneously, which would be absolute sports madness.
