If you’re not impressed or struck with some optimism when thinking about the future of Michigan State’s offensive line when you see that Spencer Brown is 6’6″ and weighs 305 pounds, maybe these facts about Brown will impress you or make you optimistic:

  • Listed among the top offensive tackle prospects in the nation by Rivals.com (No. 23), ESPN.com (No. 57) and 247Sports (No. 69).
  • Ranked among the top players in the state of Michigan by Rivals.com (No. 8), ESPN.com (No. 16), The Detroit News (No. 21) and 247Sports (No. 24).
  • Rated one of the top offensive tackle prospects in the state of Michigan by 247Sports (No. 2), Rivals.com (No. 4) and ESPN (No. 4).

Spencer Brown is another guy who’s going to enroll early and begin to work his butt off on the greatest campus in all of America in just a few weeks.

I wonder what sort of an impact Ken Mannie will have on Spencer Brown.

Brown is a massive, athletic, tough guy who is yet another new Spartan with a chance to have an immediate impact on the program and, specifically, the offensive line.

When I take a look at the makeup of this recruiting class, I can’t help but think of the potential for Spencer Brown, Nick Samac, Damon Kaylor, and Devontae Dobbs to have a substantial impact on the ability of this football program to re-establish its toughness and its commitment to controlling the offensive line of scrimmage.

Brown – like these other guys – has played a ton of defense too.  It’s obvious that the guy has athleticism.

Props to Mark Dantonio and his staff for putting an emphasis on bringing in offensive linemen who have, obviously, been recognized as guys with a ton of upside.

As for Spencer Brown – props to you for making a fantastic decision and welcome to the Michigan State experience.

We’re looking forward to watching you bring some serious intensity, toughness, destruction-capabilities, appropriate meanness, and a commitment to beating the hell out of opponents while wearing the Green & White with pride and purpose.

Get after it.

Start immediately.
