Spelt Flour, Raw Cane Sugar to Bake Healthy Cookies

Cookies are among the favorite desserts during Christmas, but because they contain a lot of fat, wheat flour, and sugar, they can't be considered a "healthy" snack. However, bakers say some ingredients can be replaced with other healthy ones without compromising the taste.

For instance, wheat flour can be replaced with spelt flour, which can have a minor effect on the taste, but instead contains a significant amount of fibers and minerals.

Refined sugar can be replaced with raw cane sugar or whole cane sugar.

Although the latter cannot be used in all types of bakeries, it is a good ingredient for gingerbread; or, you can always use the raw cane sugar.

You can try reducing sugar in cookies dough by one third to see if you can notice any difference in taste.

But, amateur bakers must be careful while preparing crunchy cookies. To maintain the taste and texture, the recommended sugar amount should not be reduced by more than 10 to 20 percent.
