Spelling mistake on key road sign to be fixed

A CORRECTION will be made to a sign on East Lothian’s busiest road after a spelling mistake was noticed.

The sign on the eastbound side of the A1 can be found just before the turn-off to Queen Margaret University.

However, motorists not heading to the Musselburgh university may instead be travelling towards North Berwick, Haddington or even "Tranet".

The spelling mistake has raised plenty of smiles on social media.

However, many people replying also questioned what the mistake was and failed to even notice the spelling error.

A spokesperson for East Lothian Council said: “The sign was designed and installed by a contractor as part of the works at Queen Margaret University.

“We are currently working to have the error corrected.”

BEAR Scotland is only responsible for the A1 south/east of Old Craighall Junction.
