Spellbinding spectacle from St Patrick's Opera Group at Howden Park Centre

It was an all singing all dancing spectacle as Shotts’ St Patrick’s Opera Group presented their production of Godspell.

The show was brought to the stage in Livingston’s Howden Park Centre.

Godspell presents a series of parables which are interspersed with music set to lyrics from a series of traditional hymns.

The story follows Jesus Christ as he recruits a group of followers and teaches them a number of valuable lessons through song and dance.

It features a variety of personalities including circus characters and cowboys as well as an array of beautiful harlequin costumes in a colourful stage setting.

The costumes were specially produced for St. Patrick’s Group for this show.

The audiences showed their appreciation throughout, with generous applause and a large measure of laughter in response to the comedy lines throughout.

Songs like the Light of the World, By my Side, Day by Day, Prepare Ye the Way, All Good Gifts, We Beseech Thee and the fantastic finale ensured the audiences on each night went home singing.

This show was the latest triumph for St Patrick’s Opera Group and for producer Judy Brown and musical director Fraser Wilson.

The group are now starting to prepare for next year’s huge 70th anniversary show when they take on the wonderful Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.
