Speke Hall brings back its haunted tours held in darkness which come with a warning to visitors

Speke Hall has announced plans to bring back its haunted tours later this year, guided only by touchlight.

Built 400 years ago, Speke Hall might look beautiful but it hides a mysterious past.

Thought to be one of the  most haunted buildings in Liverpool , both staff and visitors have made claims of seeing and experiencing strange things around the property at night.

In the past, visitors have reported sudden feelings of nauseousness and seeing moving shadows in the dark.

Lasting around one hour, visitors will be taken around the hall in complete darkness to discover tales of its previous inhabitants.

While making their way around the building, guests will listen to tales from The Lady in Black.

She will be able to tell those brave enough about Lady Mary who inherited the house and married Lord Sidney Beauclerk, only to find out that he gambled away all his fortunes.

The legend goes that Lady Mary was so distraught at losing her riches that she murdered her son and committed suicide.

Visitors should be warned, however, the tours do come with a warning and advises any pregnant, those with a nervous disposition or those who suffer from heart complaints are advised not to come.
