Speedy Freight opens new branch in Cornwall to meet same-day delivery needs

Same day courier Speedy Freight has expanded in the South West to better service two of the UK’s biggest manufacturing hotspots, Devon and Cornwall.

The new St Austell office, which has now officially opened its door, will bring up to 40 new job roles for local drivers.

General manager Jay Milling said: “We’re really excited to be expanding our Speedy Freight franchise to provide improved same-day courier and freight service for businesses throughout the South West.”

“To kick off operations, I’m also delighted to welcome Kevin Girdler, business development manager for Cornwall and Plymouth to our team.

Kevin lives in St Austell, and we will tap into his local knowledge of moving goods in and out of the area to ensure we provide the best service possible for both existing and prospective customers.”

Kevin added: “South Devon and Cornwall are manufacturing hotspots and Speedy Freight’s services come into their own when unexpected issues arise. From delivering essential building materials and just-in-time parts to keep production lines running, to getting sensitive paperwork to offices throughout the UK.”

To support the launch, Speedy Freight is now recruiting up to 40 owner drivers – mostly of vans and trucks up to 7.5 tonne, to its preferred driver group (for drivers with their own vehicle).

These drivers also have the opportunity to get return journeys from other Speedy Freight branches. With over 4,000 vans and trucks of all sizes on the road, Speedy Freight can handle planned and emergency same day courier services, from the South West to anywhere in the UK and Europe.    

Speedy Freight operates nearly 60 franchised depots across the UK. Its network of dedicated courier services means urgent, or sensitive freight can be collected with 60 minutes of booking and delivered anywhere in the UK.
