Madcap Mick Cullen, better known as Speedo Mick, might just be appropriately dressed for trekking Scotland’s trunk roads.
As passing lorries and buses throw off spray, the big-hearted fundraiser battles on and even finds times to admire the scenery.
In a pair of trunks, his beloved Everton scarf and a Christmas hat, his goal is to raise £50,000 for society’s most vulnerable.
The 55-year-old set off from John O’Groats in the far north on December 6 facing a seven-week slog to Land’s End.
The half-naked hiker has been warming hearts in the Highlands while defying sub-zero temperatures on a 1000-mile journey.
He posted a live selfie video on Facebook as he precariously walked the road’s edge as heavy vehicles thundered past.
But smiling Mick took it all in his stride, joking: “Water everywhere – it’s freezing, absolutely freezing. I’ve aged about 10 years and it’s only been two weeks.”
Mick woke up to a Santa stocking behind his bedroom door in Luss, near Loch Lomond, yesterday.
In a clip on Twitter, he emptied the contents onto his bed to reveal one Brussels sprout, a packet of blister plasters and a tangerine. He joked: “Twelve months I’ve waited for that.”
The lighting rigger looks like smashing his £50,000 target before he leaves Scotland. He said: “I’ve loved seeing the snow in the Highlands and the scenery is absolutely stunning.”
