Speeding unaccompanied Wicklow learner driver found with unrestrained toddler in back seat of car

A speeding unaccompanied Wicklow learner driver was found to have an unrestrained toddler in the back seat when stopped by gardai.

The motorist was also found to have breached a string of other regulations, including having an out of date tax and NCT, no insurance and no L plates displayed when they were stopped on the M11 today.

A three-year-old was discovered in the back of the car with no child restraints.

The driver told gardai they didn't realise they were speeding because they were distracted while talking on the phone.

Wicklow gardai said: "Stopped for speeding on M11 today and had no tax and NCT since December , no insurance displayed, learner permit, no L plates and unaccompanied with a 3 year old in the back with no child restraint.

"Driver stated that they didn't realise they were speeding because they were distracted while on the phone.

"FCPN for some of the offences and court appearance to follow as well."
