Speeding drivers stopped in Musselburgh as police do checks on road identified as a 'concern'

A number of drivers were warned about their speed as police carried out checks on a busy Musselburgh road.

Carberry Road in the town has been highlighted as a "particular concern" by members of the public, prompting officers to spend some time there with their speed gun earlier this week.

Checks were carried out between 2pm and 3pm on Tuesday (28 January) and eight drivers were warned about their speed with one offence detected.

Police said the proactive work came as a "direct result of consultations between police and the public", and they added that they were pleased with the majority of motorists they observed.

East Lothian Police added: "Officers were pleased to note that the majority of drivers were recorded to be obeying the speed limits and displaying a good standard of driving. 8 persons were warned and one speeding offence detected during the check.

"Local community officers will revisit this area again in the coming weeks to ensure compliance."

Edinburgh Live reported last week how ten drivers were stopped during speed checks in Corstorphine. A community officer and the road policing team took part in a joint initiative on Corstorphine Road and Corstorphine High Street.
