'Speeding driver' zooms down 20mph street setting off parked car's dashcam

A dad fears a fatal accident will soon happen after capturing footage of a car zooming down his 20mph street.

The south Liverpool resident provided dash-cam footage which showed a car speeding down Pitville Avenue in Mossley Hill, on Thursday night.

The resident, who asked not to be named, sent the footage to the ECHO to highlight his concerns about speeding drivers in the area.

In the footage, the car can be seen zooming down the quiet residential street, which is lined with parked cars.

And the speed of the passing car actually mobilised the dad's dashcam system, which filmed the incident.

He said: "I was in the house at the time that car shot past. But I knew the speed would have set off my dash-cam, and I was right

"I could not believe the speed of the car, which looked to be travelling well over 50."

The dad said the road is a 20mph zone, however claims many drivers do not adhere to the speed limit.

He added: "There are families with young children around here but they can't play out due to the speeding issue.

"I am really worried that a bad accident will happen soon. And then its too late."

The dad-of-two said that some speeding drivers used Pitville Avenue as a short cut through to nearby Rose Lane.

He said: "It's not just me. There is growing concern in the area about this problem."

The ECHO has sent the dash-cam footage to Merseyside Police.

Liverpool Council introduced 20mph zones in the city's residential areas. The scheme cost £1.65m over 4 years and was part funded through Liverpool City Council and the Liverpool Public Health.
